Activities - Walking
General Notes: Take your Walking Sticks with you but don’t worry if you forget them, in Abruzzo you can always pick up a suitable branch from a tree to make up your own! Take your Mobile Phone with you but, especially if walking alone, bear in mind that you may or may not get a signal (The old fashioned Whistle may still come in handy). All the walks are graded so that you don’t over extend yourself: T=Turistico (Easy walk with not much gradient. Maybe stopping to look at nature interests etc) E=Escursionistico (Rambling at a little faster pace and gradient) EE=Escursionistico per esperti (A lot of gradient at a reasonable pace. E.g. To the top of Gruppo Del Sirente) Note: An Italian villager’s idea of Escursionistico may be different than yours! So be careful if you plan to go on a walk with an organised Italian Group. Tried and Tested Walks These are walks we have done on our own and documented for your enjoyment: Our own Tried and Tested Walk Details/Photo Galleries A Walk In The Car If you have visitor(s) who can only walk a short/easy distance, or if that is what you feel like doing, then you can drive right up to the following walks and just have a short easy stroll there and back to see the item of interest: Walk In The Car Details/Photo Galleries Trekking Association Organised Walks “Associazione Trekking L’Arcobaleno del Sirente” Operating out of Secinaro .... The Programme is normally advertised on the notice board outside of the bar. Providing a good range of organised Summer/Winter walks, graded from Tourist to Expert Level. Click here for Details/Photos Miscellaneous Walks taken from the Book: A Piedi in Abruzzo, di Stefano Ardito (vol. 1 and 2); Edizioni Iter-1987 Click here to check them out!
