Gico Kart (Formerly known as HollyKart) at Sulmona (39km/50mins) Now called Gico Kart but the entrance still says Holly Kart The address is Via Fonte D’Amore, Sulmona (No Telephone Number yet BUT the main Tourist Information in Sulmona will ring for you) .... Just off the SS17 near Sulmona - go off to Badia and drive to the Large Church there - go Right then Left and after about a Km you will see a Police School on your Left - go down the narrow lane/rough track at the side of it. It is under New Management (Nuova Gestione) since March 2009 and should be “Aperto Tutti Giorni” most of the year. €10 for 10mins .... BUT very generous with their timing! Proprietor/Helpers spoke a little English but were very helpful and make a good effort to communicate. They had SLOW Karts for Beginners and Faster ones for the more experienced!   Most impressive was their help for beginners - the young man sat on with our beginner and took him round on an empty track for the first day. The second day he had a successful day on his own, again on an empty track. The third day the three of us had a great/competitive time with the track to ourselves.
There are plenty of opportunities for Go Karting within a reasonable distance. Our favourite so far is the one near Sulmona, especially for beginners!

KARTODROMO just before L'Aquila (39km/50mins) €10 for 12minsProprietor speaks no English (Only Italian/German) but is very helpful. Will allow children from age 9years BUT our youngest got into trouble controlling his go-kart so, as they are 100cc Engines, we would recommend ages 12-15 upwards. The track was open until midnight in August which was great fun driving under floodlights! “One more lap and my son would have overtaken me - ha, in your dreams!”
