Days Out from Secinaro (Rocca Di Mezzo)
21.1km/13.1miles (26mins) Population 1,346; Elevation 1,329m/4,360ft Start=Secinaro Piazza: Leaving the village, go Right and up hill past the little park. Beautiful drive up the mountain in Spring, Summer and especially Autumn (Maybe not too good in Winter). Basically just keep on driving, past the Chalet Sirente cafe/visitor centre, until you get to a T-Junction. Here you turn Right and drive into Rocca Di Mezzo, turning Left when you get to a pedestrian crossing with the main town on your Right. Here you will find a good car park up the street on your Left. It is normally only full on Market Day (Wednesday) but you can park along the street going parallel to the main street and walk back. From the car park, walk back and cross the main street to the main area and seek out the Tourist Information on your Right with a small Church at the side of it. The main promenade and market are off to the left. Market Day Market day is every Wednesday and it is spread for the whole length of the Promenade which is pedestrianised on the day (other times you can drive/park on surrounding roads). As you go in, there will be the travelling Hot Roast Chicken van, a travelling Fish Van, and a good variety of Clothes, Hardware and Plants. That’s as well as the normal Shops, Cafes and Restaurants …. the large FREE Car Park may be full on Market Day but you can park on the streets around it free of charge as well. Small Church (Chiesa San Michel Arcangelo) Just in front of the Fountain is a small church which is worth a look inside if it’s open.
Rocca Di Mezzo Market Day
Rocca Di Mezzo Market Day Every Wednesday
Just behind the fountain
Favourite Cafe For a Cup Of Tea/Toilet I like the Mid Rock Cafe which is more pleasant to sit outside under umbrellas and with more comfortable seats. The Ice Cream is ok but there is a better selection half way up the beautiful promenade where you can get some Gluten Free Ice Cream if needed.
