The castle was built in the XI century and throughout the centuries it was a valuable fortress thanks to its location, lying just at the mouth of the Gorge of Popoli. Today you can visit the ruins of the castle, just a 30-40mins walk up from the main town.

Informazione
If you walk across and up the steep street, you will come across our second Church which has been closed for some time following the earthquake of 2009. We were so lucky to see them carrying the Religious Statue from the previous day’s procession, up the hill from La Chiesa di San Francesco to the second Church for storage. As we were taking photographs they kindly let us in to watch them and view the Church.
