Days Out from Secinaro for ADULTS
Try a few of our suggestions listed below:
Swimming
The Outdoor Pool in Corfinio is good for Adults, Families and the
18-30’s Group. Great for a morning/afternoon. It is well run and
clean with good music (mix of Italian/English).
If you prefer a standard Indoor Pool then there are public pools in
Sulmona, L’Aquila etc (Check out the “Activities - Swimming” page)
Canoeing & Kayaks
Beautiful river at the other side of Popoli, with Indian Style Canoes so you don’t even
need to get wet (but you probably will!). Some don’t mind the water at 10 degrees all year
round but it was too cold for me! Fantastic couple of hours with 2 per Canoe plus an English
speaking guide. Good organisation and safety - life jackets & waterproof bag
provided by Il Bosso.
Boat Hire and Bicycles at Lago Di Scanno
You can hire Boats & Bicycles (Including 2 and 4 Seaters) at
Lago Di Scanno. You might even enjoy the ride in the car to get
there on the narrow roads with hidden bends - unless you are
the driver of course! You can easily lap round the lake and it has
plenty of perfect picnic spots.
If you are “Young At Heart” and of reasonably good health, Step Back and check out the “Days Out for 18-30’s Group” first,
then take a look at the additional suggestions for Adults below:
Note: You will need to wear a Bathing Cap in most pools in Italy, male or female (if you don’t have one you may be able
to buy one from the office otherwise you won’t be allowed in the pool)
Castelli Ceramics Museum
The larger/more famous Ceramics museum is located in Castelli which can be on your round
trip and way back from the Olive Oil Museum.
The Olive Oil Museum at Loreto Aprutino (In the hills inland from Pescara)
An excellent little Olive Oil Museum and well worth the drive up to the town - even
though it is not easy to get to! You can combine your visit with a look round the
Chiesa Di S. Maria in Piano with its’ wonderful Wall Paintings and the little Cermaics Museum.
In fact, you need to go to the little Ceramics Museum first to get your combined ticket with the
Olive Oil Museum - then they will take you round and open up the Olive Oil Museum for you.
Activities - Walking
Be sure to choose your Level carefully, especially on walks
organised by an Italian Group - maybe stick to T=Turistico
(Easy walk with not much gradient. Stopping to look at nature
interests etc) or one of our Abruzzo4u “Walks In The Car”
Aielli (Colourful village near to Celano)
A short trip to the most picturesque village in abruzzo is well worth ia visit. Have fun ticking off the Murals on your map
which, if it is open, you can pick up at the kiosk before you wander around.
Check if the Tower is open and, for a small charge, get the
lowdown on Astronomy then get to look at the sun through
the telescope on the roof terrace.
